Self-Care Challenge, Winter Edition

This is the last week of 2021, and I don't know about you, but this year really flew by. The holidays are usually so busy, that I thought this challenge should be about winding down. Be mindful though, next month's challenge is all about getting your sweat on, so stay tuned.

Shift your Attitude, with Gratitude

If you haven't already, get yourself a gratitude journal to help you remember all of the things that you have to be grateful for. We all have hard days and let me tell you, this is vital, especially when we forget just how far we have come.

Call a Loved One

Okay, we have been going thorough this pandemic experience since 2019, we can't just go over to visit a friend without having to think of PCR testing, or contact tracing. So now, it is important that we find other ways to stay in touch with the people we care about.

Spice it Up

You can add a little extra spice to your coffee or tea and enjoy the moment before you have to get back into your day. For example, adding a little cinnamon or pumpkin spice and cashew cream to your coffee can be a treat, and take your coffee experience to the next level.

Nice and Cozy

Nothing says cozy, like a nice pair of PJ's. I find that even now as I work from home, changing into my pajamas helps me to transition into a different part of my day. Many of us are still working from home, so having a change of scenery, going into another room in your home to work. A nice pair of PJ's can help you finally relax, instead of one long day, in the house.

It's the Aroma for Me

Creating an ambient space can be done with a nice scented candle. Just the simple smell of a candle can help to shift cleaning, to a pleasant experience. When purchasing a candle, try looking for soy candles with clean burning wicks. You want to be mindful about burning toxic materials like lead or petroleum, that are found is some candles.

Make Time to Take Time

Giving yourself a facial can be relaxing and informative. However, giving yourself a good facial on a regular basis can help you improve your skin and feel more confident. Try using clean beauty products that are made with ingredients that you can feel good about.

Nutrition is Key

Eating more healthy, whole food is important if you want to obtain or maintain a certain level of fitness. So it helps to eat food that also tastes good. You can still have your cookies, cake, or pizza. What's more important is how you have them. You can find healthier alternatives or recipes of your favorites to enjoy.

Reflect and Make Amends

As the year comes to a close, it's good to reflect on your year. Your wins, your losses, and your lessons. This is a good time to make amends and move forward with new insight.

Make a Day of it

Take a day and binge your favorite movies, or even just a few of those movies you never got to watch. I've never seen E.T., but I've always wanted to watch, so for me, this would be watching an old movie for the first time.
